The High School Atmosphere

High school has been the worst time of my life.  I’m sure there are going to be quite a variety of opinions about this whether you like high school or not. I’ve come to the conclusion that you have to be a jock or party every weekend to like this *******. If you’re a nerd you probably have the same viewpoint as me. High school in general sucks.

What makes high school so unbearable is a combination of things, but I’d say the biggest factor is the people. I seriously feel like I’m one of the few normal people in this school. Take a look around and you’ll know what I mean. We have the popular kids and jocks with no personality whatsoever running the school, the weird kids who are either social morons or dress like they are going to war with their camouflage pants, and the nerds/geeks who are obsessed with their cell phones. So….. Where do I fit in?

The answer is that I don’t. Don’t get me wrong, I have my few solid friends but after that it’s pathetic. I watch people very carefully so I know about all the little crap goes on around the school. The disrespect, immaturity, and meanness BOOMS throughout these hallways.  I try to stay positive (and I am a happy person outside of school), but as soon as I walk through the hallways my spirit is sucked out of me. I just can’t stand being around the negativity and stupidity.  That’s the main reason many of my friends are nerds. I’m not a nerd myself, but I’d rather be around people who are smart and talkative instead of antisocial and boring.

However, we all know there is usually a good side to something no matter how bad it may appear at first glance. As much as I hate high school there are positive things that come from it. I know for a fact that high school prepares kids for college by helping them develop study habits needed to succeed at the next level. http://psychcentral.com/lib/2006/top-10-most-effective-study-habits/all/1/ is a great place to learn some if you don’t have good habits already.

A positive that I can personally relate to is the discipline that high school enforces on you. You know what I want to be doing right now in my life? Making money and banging chicks (ha-ha-ha-ha).  High school without a doubt helps keep me out of trouble because it reminds me that I have to follow the rules.

Lastly, I think high school helps develop character. I think that you grow as a person because of all the experiences you have – good or bad.

Yes, I know that there are good things that come from high school, but the negatives outweigh the positives and it’s not even close. If you feel the same way as me, we only have a year and a half more of this ******** – better times are ahead.

  1. Personally, I enjoyed this blog. It was very straightforward and to the point. It was easy to read and it kept my interest. It got me laughing towards the end, and I am glad your not afraid to speak your mind. I csan relate to this blog in a huge way. I see what your saying as it is very truthful. Things are going to get better. You seem to be a happy person and always have your head up. I like the way you look at life. You do not like to stay in the drama and your character will definetely get you places.

  3. I am totally on your side with your point of view. I love how your piece is filled with your voice and i can really tell that you hate high school. lol I like how you were really able to develop your idea at the end of how that even thoough life may be sucking now that there is always the future and life will get better after being out of high school. You really touched on the typical high school life and that is exactly how it is and it is really annoying and stupid how people act. I was able to relate to your whole piece! Good job antony(:
